SaladCast 150 (6th December 2015) – Grabbed by the Gear

Posted by Rob, December 7, 2015 7:07 pm

Who likes long podcasts? We like long podcasts! So we made a long podcast! Exclamation marks!!!
Rob gets sour over another Rare Replay game but Dan returns from Morocco to lift him up with MGSV. Zac, meanwhile, exposes us all to his lucky glow (it’s radiation) by starting Fallout 4 again.

PS. We kinda totally missed that most of PSX had happened the day before recording. It wasn’t that great though.

Gameplay – The Bridge

Posted by Rob, December 5, 2015 10:28 am

Braid was quite an inspiration to the puzzle platforming genre. So here’s Braid…kinda. It’s really The Bridge. Braid with gravity. Zac and Rob let their minds be turned upside down.

SaladCast 149 (22nd November 2015) – Fall o’ Duty

Posted by Rob, November 23, 2015 11:35 am

The Wii U really wants you to know about Nintendo Direct. It’s really important to it that you watch it in action and give it your warm encouragement. In fact it won’t shut up about it. Beeping and dinging and jingling in the corner of the room. Frustratingly needy thing. You know sometings it makes you feel like you could just…. oh shh shh, it’s coming over.

Hey Wii U how’s it going? What you got there? A suspiciously heavy looking lead pipe with Mario Tennis written on it? Better cut to the SaladCast before I listen to everything you could possibly say you wonderful console you.

Gameplay – Prison Architect

Posted by Rob, November 21, 2015 11:03 am

Prison Architect has made it out of Early Access so Zac had to show Rob what it’s all about. Inmates, Plans, Budgets! Do Introversion combine these into something charming or hard labour?

SaladCast 148 (8th November 2015) – Paris Halo Week

Posted by Rob, November 9, 2015 6:47 pm

Aaaaaand in the blue corner; The current console champion of the world, weighing in at over 25 million units sold despite only a few great games and looking to fight dirty; Sony Playstation!
This would be the honest introduction in the current generation fight and it’s Sony’s time to come out swinging as they dominate Paris Games Week. French it up!

Oh and there was a small release on XBONE called Halo 5. You might have heard of it.

Gameplay – Sonic Adventure, Part 7 – E102 Gamma and Friends

Posted by Rob, November 7, 2015 4:59 pm

In the last of the main character stories we figure out just what E102 has been trundling around for. Zac and Rob play some more Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast (emulated via Demul as usual).

SaladCast 147 (24th October 2015) – Metal Force Architect

Posted by Rob, October 25, 2015 8:26 am

Did you miss last week’s super special limited edition SaladCast? If so then you missed the best show we’ve ever done. It had celebrity guests, hot new musical acts, exclusive game reveals and even some “fan fiction”. But don’t worry, you can still get your normal edition podcast goodies right here. We’ve brought a pheasant.

Gameplay – Final Fantasy VIII – Part 1 – A Lot to Learn

Posted by Rob, October 22, 2015 9:32 am

Here we go then. Time to get stuck into Rob’s favourite FF game with Zac and as an added bonus Dan. The salad crew get schooled by the first hour of the 2013 Steam Version of FFVIII.

Gameplay – Dark Souls (PC)

Posted by Rob, October 9, 2015 9:34 am

Zac tries to teach Dan and Rob just how this game really works and show that the unofficial “fix patch” is kinda OK.

SaladCast 146 (4th October 2015) – Just EGX or Goat

Posted by Rob, October 5, 2015 10:40 am

To all those who went to EGX 2015, I have to clap my hands. Finally a show where the crowd isn’t composed of annoying idiots who barge their way through to get anywhere, treading on toes as they do. You make music concerts look thoroughly uncivilised… which is probably the point in a lot of cases but I’m still impressed. See you next year my people.

Needless to say there’s a lot of EGX coverage this week but there’s just enough time for Zac to cover his tabletop adventures too.

Gameplay – Blur (PC)

Posted by Rob, September 15, 2015 5:12 pm

This is our jam! We’ve harped on about this game for years on the SaladCast and now it’s time to show you why. Bizarre Creations may no longer be with us but they went out on a high. Zac and Rob dedicate this happysalad GP to them.

Gameplay – Blocks That Matter

Posted by Rob, September 15, 2015 5:09 pm

Indie games can be a bit “meta”, so here’s a video game about indie game developers rescuing themselves with fake science. Zac gives Rob a degree in block drilling via puzzle platforming.

SaladCast 144 (6th September 2015) – So Industry, Many Binary

Posted by Rob, September 7, 2015 2:22 pm

Unbeknownst to us, it turns out it has been “totally average game week” here at happysalad. Nothing too terrible, nothing mind-blowing, just good-old “B-tier” games being in the same room offering a lukewarm, vaguely honest handshake of mediocrity. The middle of the road is mildly comfortable… and beige.

Gameplay – One Finger Death Punch

Posted by Rob, August 31, 2015 11:17 am

Kick, Punch, it’s all in the mind… or at least two of your fingers. Zac and Rob commit mass stick figure homicide, albeit in self defence playing One Finger Death Punch.

Saladcast 143 (22nd August 2015) – Gamescommitment

Posted by Rob, August 23, 2015 2:51 pm

Circumstances entirely of Rob’s creation haver lead to a one week delay in the SaladCast delivery schedule and typically, a major event occurred. Gamescom carries a heavy Microsoft slant giving us a press conference to cover in our usual style and 3 weeks of gap gives us quite a few games to chat about. Do we cover everything? “Who knows?”.

Gameplay – Sonic Adventure, Part 6 – Big Eyes

Posted by Rob, August 8, 2015 11:27 am

Big the Cat shuns the public to such an extent that every part of recording his episode of Sonic Adventure was influenced by his spirit. Recording was dodgy, audio out of sync, encoding process doing whatever it wanted… you’re lucky you get to see this at all.

SaladCast 142 (2nd August 2015) – Factorio and the Blind Truth

Posted by Rob, August 3, 2015 6:11 pm

Rob may have been stag party levels of hungover when we recorded this (his may still be a bit hungover as this is written) but there are gaming discussions that must burst forth like liquidated stomach lining! Discussions of food challenges, press-ups, not having Windows 10, Keiji Inafune and maybe a videogame or two lie within.

And no, we didn’t talk about Pixels. Go wallow in your own misery.

SaladCast Season 4 Outtakes and Tests

Posted by Rob, July 26, 2015 5:32 pm

So I know we wrapped up Season 4 of the SaladCast well over a year ago (we’re on Season 6 right now) but it’s never too late to catch up on all the pieces you couldn’t have caught up on. Here are some our dumber off-air moments, conversations and noises captured during Season 4 because we left a mic or two on. As always we haven’t cleaned these up so it can sound a bit raw but that’s what outtakes are supposed to sound like. Unintentional.

In this Podcast:

Noises, Outtakes, Raw Audio, and more!

SaladCast 141 (19th July 2015) – DiRT Chalice

Posted by Rob, July 20, 2015 6:43 pm

In a move that screams “5 years ago” the happysalad team provide a SaladCast of a length more in keeping with our former restrictions. We don’t even get a cameo from Dan’s alarm to ignore.

In this episode we play some new stuff and keep playing the stuff we were playing and of course mourn the loss of gaming’s most charming man.
